The key capabilities of our seismic design and analysis team are:

  • Seismic Source Characterization: We identify and characterize seismic sources for seismic hazard analysis.
  • Ground Motion Characterization: Our team excels in developing both traditional and advanced models, including partially ergodic and non-ergodic models, to characterize ground motions.
  • Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Analysis (PSHA): We utilize PSHA to inform the selection and scaling of ground motion time histories.
  • Deterministic Seismic Hazard Analysis (DSHA): We utilize DSHA to inform the selection and scaling of ground motion time histories. Our deterministic approach provides valuable insights into potential seismic events and their impacts.
  • Conditional Mean Spectra Development: We create conditional mean spectra to support the design and assessment of structures.
  • Regulator/Code Compliant Response Spectra Development: We ensure compliance with regulatory codes such as American Society of Civil Engineers 7-16, 2019 California Building Code, 2018 International Building Code, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and other project-governing requirements by developing accurate response spectra.
  • Site Response Analysis: Our team performs equivalent linear, nonlinear, and random vibration theory analyses to assess site responses. We also provide site-specific time history selection and modification based on required guidelines and governing codes.
  • Peer Review of Seismic Hazard Studies: We offer peer review services to validate and enhance seismic hazard studies.

  • Seismic Analysis of Soil-Structure Interaction (SSI): We perform advanced SSI analyses to capture the effects of both seismic ground shaking and permanent ground deformation, including fault offset. Our capabilities include dynamic SSI analyses (e.g., nonlinear time-domain soil–structure interaction and seismic racking analyses) as well as pseudo-static evaluations for fault deformation and ground strain impacts on underground structures.
