Yiming Sun has more than 30 years of experience in civil, geotechnical, and mining engineering. His experience includes field monitoring of surface settlements above a large-diameter transit tunnel in soft rock; and design and analyses of highway tunnels, water and sewer tunnels, shafts, underground facilities for high-level nuclear waste repository, subway stations and tunnels, railway tunnels, and deep excavations. Yiming has extensive experience in numerical modeling for seismic, stress, structural, groundwater, slope stability, and thermal analyses. He also has experience in the development of design calculations, drawings, and specifications; review and checking of design documents; designing and conducting laboratory and field tests and field monitoring in geotechnical engineering; assisting in project planning and scheduling; and interfacing with government agencies and subcontractors for complex design issues.
Yiming holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Minnesota, and an MS in Structural Engineering and BS in Geotechnical Engineering from Tongji University, Shanghai, P.R. China. He is a registered Professional Engineer in California, Nevada, and Minnesota.
