Roozbeh Mikola

Computational Analysis and Modeling Practice Lead

Roozbeh Geraili Mikola has 15 years of experience in tunneling, geotechnical, and rock engineering. His experience includes tunneling, soil structure interaction, liquefaction analysis, slope stability, physical and numerical simulation, earthquake, tsunami as well as software development. In his career, he has been involved with more than 40 projects, including slope stability analysis, soil structure interaction analysis, tunnel support landslide interaction analysis, and rock falls. His background is particularly strong in the geotechnical aspects of soft ground and hard rock, geotechnical investigations, ground characterization, tunnel excavation and support methods, tunnel design, and numerical simulation. In addition to his project work, Roozbeh is the founder and lead developer of ADONIS (a free finite element program for geotechnical engineers) and HYRCAN (a free slope stability program based on the limit equilibrium method) and has authored more than 25 journal and conference publications.

Roozbeh holds a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, an MS in Rock Mechanics from the University of Tehran, and a BS in Mining Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic). He is a registered Professional Engineer in California.
