James Struthers is a principal engineering geologist with 28 years of experience in geotechnical design and construction, working mainly in the transportation and heavy civil sectors. He has managed and provided technical oversight for several large-scale transportation projects and served as the designer of record for various structures such as bridges, marine facilities, new highway alignments, and rock slope and landslide mitigation projects. James specializes in the evaluation of unstable rock slopes and landslides and has extensive experience in designing and building mitigation measures. He is an expert in landslide and rockfall mitigation, rock slope and grading design, geotechnical seismic design, geologic subsurface characterization, and rock blasting.
James holds a BS in Geologic Sciences (Structural Geology) from the University of Washington and completed his graduate studies in Geologic Sciences (Tectonics/Structural Geology) from the University of Nevada. He is a Licensed Engineering Geologist in Washington and Oregon and a Licensed Geologist in Idaho.
